The eco printing involves an ingredient called alum powder, this you soak with the fabric and tadd to the boiling process to extract the pigment from the plants causing the patters on the fabric to emerge. I didn’t have this so the pigment in my fabric is more dull than I would have been if I had used this. As a first attempt this is not bad and I am happy with the outcome. I have bought some alum powder for my next attempt to see if this brings out the vibrancy in the plants more.
