For this Locus project I will be exploring a variety of textural surfaces, such as natural and man-made materials, both studying and analysing their physical structures and properties in order to use this as inspiration to incorporate into my own practice. By implementing both smooth and textural surfaces in my design, I will be able to clearly portray the juxtaposing qualities of these forms.
I will also study these physical structures in order to identify how they interact individually and together as multiples. To do this I want to use explorative methods of working using clay, plaster, concrete and other various materials.
I want to be able to identify my personal strengths of working with these materials, and to build up a strong personal body of work that portrays the type of maker I am.
As a result of completing this Locus project, I aim for it to expand my breadth of knowledge within this subject, and to push my exploration further, taking inspiration from other art and design practitioners.
